REDWOOD CITY, CA -- Security management firm RedSeal Systems Inc. said that it has raised $17.1 million in a second round of venture capital.

The company has developed a software system combined with an appliance that claims to automate network audit and assessment tasks, relieving IT departments of the time consuming task of doing so.

Investors in the round were led by Venrock Associates, and included Jafco Ventures, Sutter Hill Ventures and Leapfrog Ventures.  The company said it will use the funding proceeds to expand sales and marketing nationwide and internationally.
